Balikan committee burns the midnight oil for Dec. 5 homecoming
Day jobs by day, group chats by night: HSAM batches ’97 and ’01 are pulling out all the stops to bring everyone home.

MALOLOS — Long after the dismissal bell, the lights are still on. For months now, the Balikan Homecoming committee has juggled careers, kids and a group chat that never sleeps, all to make one night in December worth coming home for.
Since January they have danced through ZumBalik, sent more than 450 runners around campus at the Balikan Fun Run, and lined up pickleball, a bar night and bingo before the big day. Every peso raised goes to the reunion and to a legacy gift for the school: a campus sound system upgrade and a tribute to the teachers who raised a generation.
Sources close to the committee report spreadsheets open past midnight, venue calls between meetings, and at least one batch shirt mock-up revised “one last time” more than once.
Their rallying cry, scribbled on more than one planning sheet: “Isang araw lang naman, balik ka na.”
